Session 9 into session 10
Welcome back everyone! – Here’s what happened in our previous session.
We rejoined Ophi’s Bodyguards back inside the walls of Lut Gholein, having only just escaped the clutches of the creatures that inhabit and guard the halls of the dead.
However, they remained undeterred, and prepared themselves to head there once more…. for a third time.
Once they were fully ready, one by one they headed over to the way-point, and teleported back to the Dry Hills, where upon arriving there, they cautiously re-entered the Halls of the Dead.
Rhyker bravely lead the party forward, and it wasn’t too long before he ran into a group of tomb defenders, known as Decayed Ones… These are mummified humans, brought to life again by dark necromancy.
The party had no choice, to press forward they had to engage them.
Due to the large number of enemies they were facing, the battle took quite a while to end, but eventually the party were able to overcome the enemy and reduce them down to only one or two remaining, somewhere within the darkened passage… but even though there were no visible enemies at the time, the combat situation never truly ceased.
Rhyker pushed forwards into the third room just ahead of him, and found yet another Sarcophagus with the Decayed ones lurking outside of it.
He turned his focus instantly onto the mechanical device next to him, and slammed his shield into it, after slicing it with his axe.
However, as a result of his actions being incredibly loud, he managed to attract the rest of the tomb defenders there, and was soon under attack by a volley of Javelins being thrown by the group of Huntress Lacuni, who are waiting just out of his sight, to the furthest side of the room.
Unknown to the party at that point though – a hidden group of an untold number of bats were also alerted to them, and they too moved into range and began their own assault… An assault to which Rhyker was able to deflect most of the blows with his tough armour, however, the less fortunate Zrin who pushed up a little too much, and stood closer to Rhyker, didn’t fair too well, and with a couple of strikes from a single bat – he was taken down.
Seeing a good time to strike, the champion Saber Cat, known only as Bloodwitch – moved from her position into a much closer proximity, and using her spike covered whip, dealt damage to Krell – and made him bleed.
Until this point, she was only calling down ranged attacks from the Huntresses, but Bloodwitch had a secret motive yet to be revealed.
We pick up today’s session in the midst of the battle, as it rages on.
It’s not looking too good for the party right now, they have Zrin down, and Ophi injured… and unless they can dig really deep right now and find the solution to this problem, then they could be looking at death for one of them.
