~ SESSION 20 > SESSION 21 – (BRIEF RECAP) ~
Welcome back my friends!
========================================================
We picked up last session with the party stood in the Tavern, as they were rising in the morning from their last night spent resting in town.
They spent a while fixing any damaged gear, or simply changing their equipment around, adjusting the stored items inside their group stash, and making any last minute preperations to their set-ups in general…. before it was time to leave the safety of the town, and head back into the dangerous places found below the town.
Taking the hidden steps at the back of the Mausoleum, they headed back into the catacombs.
The party stepped out from the stairs, and bravely explored the new area of the catacombs, passing through the naturally formed tunnels, until they eventually came across a more seemingly hand carved, purpose built room, which had only a lectern in the middle of it, surrounded by four large pillars stretching from ground to ceiling.
On top of the lectern was an old dusty tome, which was encased within the lectern itself, and would be very hard to remove without causing great damage to the book itself.
Lyra opened the tome carefully, and stopped on a verse written there, and upon reading the tome, she saw it spoke of a place called the Chamber of Bone, then — from literally nowhere — a set of stone steps that was previously flat as the floor, began to rise and take full form, step by step.
This new ominous rising stairway led to a dark opening, high up in the wall, which also had NOT appeared there until the book was read.
Curious to see what was going on, the party ignored the warnings of eternal death, written in the pages of the tome, and headed up the stairs to the secret chamber at the top, where they followed the passage around and down into what they could only assume was the chamber of bone that the book had described.
Once there, they quickly spread out and explored the main entrance-way.
Levi took point here, and it wasn’t long before he found trouble.
Scouting along a thin passagway, he quickly noticed a blackened bone skeleton, it was a Horror, and it was rising from the floor, possibly due to sensing the parties presence… despite Levi moving VERY stealthily.
He aimed his bow and arrow, and let loose at the creature as it formed in front of him, striking it square in the chest.
The arrow however did minimal damage, as it riccocheted off of the rib cage, and ploughed into the wall nearby, shattering on impact.
The Horror now fully formed, faced Levi and converged on his location, sword drawn, its blade surrounded by black crackling energy.
Levi quickly retreated backwards and Norrec stepped in to take his place.
Battle commenced soon after, but early in the fight, an unseen attacker made its way into the fray, and sliced into the side of the party members with poisoned claws, whilst they were dealing with the skeleton.
After the first strike, the creature revealed itself before following up with its next attack, so the party could see it was a spike covered yellow skinned imp like creature… but they only caught glimpses as it retreated back away and turned invisible when it got a short distance away from them.
With the surprise hit and run attacks coming in, the party took some high amounts of damage, and trying to pin point the enemy location was increasingly difficult in darker tunnels.
Fulgrim attempted to use a WEB spell, to capture the creature, but the Imp was far too agile and broke free of the bindings with great ease.
Norrec took a second pathway and looped around the webbing, but he was assaulted by a second hidden enemy, and also found yet another Horror lurking in a second passageway waiting for him to come closer.
The battle was a tough one, but eventually the party managed to overcome their sneaky new adversaries, with some well timed reactive spell-casting and precise movements.
By chance, Fulgrim moved forward and stepped within 5ft of a hiding creature, instantly revealing their location to everyone as they panicked.
This allowed Norrec to move in for the kill, and with a flourish of well-aimed strikes with his blade, ended the creatures life.
After the first Imp was killed, Lyra decided to hold a powereful spell for the moment she felt that she would be struck, and working in her favour, she released her firey destruction and blasted the fiend in the chest before it could stirke her a second time… killing it instantly.

The Present Scene:
The area fell silent within an instant, with just the faint sound of breathing or gentle crackling of flames coming from futher away out of sight, both of which could be heard.
After looting the bodies of the small sneaky fiends, and skeletal remains of the Horrors, they took a moment to rest and recover any spent daily ability uses they had used, along with restoring any spent health or magical potential they may have lost.
Before heading off again, the party took a moment to digest the new information which they had gained of the enemies in this area, their combat knowledge and experiences are important afterall, and often help them to formulate strategies.
The path splits into two main directions from here, so which way will they go next?
Join me my friends, as we see what unfolds next, in this session of…. Adventure in Sanctuary!
