~ SESSION 15 > SESSION 16 – (BRIEF RECAP) ~

We started last session just as the party began to take a closer look at their new surroundings.
They had just entered into what seemed to be a whole new world hidden beneath the cathedral, that very few people knew about.
As the investigations of the immediate area continued, the party saw many new and interesting things, and gathered some vital information as to what they had found there.
It was a full underground cave system, carved out long ago by an ancient order of magi known as the Horadrim… It’s purpose was to hold many of their secrets, that most of mankind was never meant to actually discover.
Over time, as the Horadric presence dwindled away, new inhabitants moved into the cave system itself.
It even had it’s own eco-system now, and although partially corrupted, living beings had adapted to live there.
Flora had been able to grow and thrive deep underground.
Puddles or streams of water from various sources had been able to form, and in doing so made most surfaces feel damp, and they glistened in the light that reflected from the nearby lit sconces.
Levi took a moment to grab a handful of mushrooms that were growing out of the ground in patches of green and brown moss clumps.
Lyra took a moment to think back, and realised that unlike the more natural forming passages she had found a few levels higher, these were clearly carved out for a purpose, but for what?… She wondered.
Moving on, the party continued to be amazed by the sights they saw, and during their further investigations, Ebrin found an old barrel, with it’s lid half-way off already.
He knocked into it by accident, and the lid fell off and broke into several pieces, and the sound echoed throughout the caves.
Suddenly, monsters lurking inside the darkness, now alerted to the party being there, converged on their position.
Combat was inevitable….
Two groups of three tribal marked Goat Demons with grey skin and large battle axes carried in both hads, came at them… The party had to fight the battle on two fronts this time, and this made things very difficult for them.
During the early stages of the fighting, Ebrin was quickly surrounded and taken down, but he was not killed and was able to make a recovery over time, though it left him weakened.
Also, a few wild magic surges happened, which actually worked in the party’s favor.
Fulgrim managed to acquire a magical shield, which hovered in his vicinity, and helped to block incoming blows, and Lyra, somehow, managed to create full duplicates of herself which confused not only her, but the enemy too, and when they attacked, they would have to guess which one was the real her.
One effect though in particular, saw an overload of magical energy, turn into a random Hypnotic Pattern spell as the Goat Demons moved in closer.
At once, half of the enemy, and the party, were suddenly unable to act, as they stood there totally entrhalled by Fulgrim and his pretty light show.
…This was a majorly “unintended” turning point in the fight for the party…
Despite any mishaps, the party did eventually manage to overcome and take down their new Goat Demon foes, and in doing so learned that the creatures living down in the caves, were tougher, faster, and stronger, than most of the monsters the party had encountered in the crypt levels above.
This knowledge, if used correctly, could be used to their advatage when preparing for their next encounter.
After the battle, the party searched the area and the bodies of the fallen Goat Demons, and found a few – new and useful items.

The Present Scene:
The party are enjoying a short rest, Lyra has identified the new staff that the party acquired from the Goat Demons, while the others take a load off.
Now they needed to decide on which way to go, do they head back to town (which would take them 2.5 hrs of walking)… or will they press deeper into the caves?
