Last Session 29 >> into this session 30 ((recap))

When last we met, the party were just finishing their rescue of Cain, from the wicked clutches of the Demons in Tristram, and were now mostly stood near to the fire pit at the heart of the Rogue Encampment.

Some of them spoke with Cain, and tried to find out anything they could from him, about the road ahead of them, whilst the others saw fit to complete their purchases of potions and other useful equipment, whilst they had some time to spare.

When ready, the party, excluding Ophi this time – head out to the Dark Woods, and follow the path which leads them further south, to the exit of the area, where they soon found a small group of enemies to deal with, before they could leave.

The road south turned eastward after a short ways, and looped around the rivers end, where the ground was very flat and barren, with nothing but the road to follow, but, as the party trekked towards their destination, the heavens above opened up, and before long they were in the midst of a thunder storm, which raged across the land.

Refusing to be deterred by the harshest of weather, and finding themselves short of camping gear, the party press on, battling the elements with each step, eventually with great hardship, they make it to the next area, known only as the Black Marsh.

Here the weather never lets up for a second, and the party find themselves in a very awkward situation, where they will not only be battling whatever foes they cross paths with, but the very weather itself seeks to hinder them in their efforts even further.

To the present moment then…
Ophi has managed to catch up with the party, and Kester has headed back to the encampment, in the hopes of finding some camping gear for the others.. The party now stand on the edge of this Marshland, cold and drenched, and already exhausted, whilst enemies begin to close in on them.

As Kester moves away from the group by quite some distance, uttering ramblings of what sound like a madman talking to himself, a bright flash of light fills the sky, a loud thunderclap rumbles through the area, and in moments, the Druid is struck in the head by a straying bolt of lighting, which fries his mind, and instantly stops his heart from beating.
He falls to the floor with a hard thump, smoldering and sparking, black smoke along with a burned meat odor, rising from the immensely burned Kester… soon after this, his body turns into nothing more than charred ashes.

The party can do nothing to help him, as his electrified body still poses a potential threat to them too if they were to touch him, all they can do is watch as his once formed spirit animals sitting by his side, begin to shimmer and fade, eventually breaking into tiny parts, which look almost like puzzle pieces… before being blown away by strong winds, whipping across the area.
