Session 2 into session 3 –
When last we met – Ophi’s Bodyguards had just finished wading through sewer muck, bones and
bandage wrappings, quite a way to start off a new quest.
Having finished off the welcome party, the band of adventurers wasted no time in pressing onward,
where they soon met a row of skeletal archers stood by a far end wall… All of which waiting for the party
to pass over the section of thin paving, where they could potentially get them in a barrage of arrow fire,
much before the party were able to get near to them… only…. this wasn’t the case at all.
In no time flat, the party were able to launch their own counter attacks, and close the gap on the group of
archers… laying them to waste in mere seconds after reaching them… A second wave of enemies came
through a parting in the side wall, all wrapped up from head to toe in grey bandages… These green
skinned Dried Corpses were also dealt with rather quickly, and wasting no time the party headed through
the gap, further into the dank and darker still passages of the sewers… They were hunting their target –
Radament… and were coming closer to him with every step they took.
Eventually, after their time spent journeying around the sewers, passing through all the grime that the
place had to offer them, the party reached a section of the sewers which held a ritualistic altar in the
centre of a large open space, with what looked to be a man laying on top of it covered in blood…
presumably his own.
Upon closer inspection, it was indeed a male who had perished, in his own blood, but it was revealed that
his body had been hacked apart, hewn limbs had been placed near to the main torso by whoever had
done this, oddly, they were where they should be located, but there were clearly signs of dismemberment
between each of the limbs, yet no decapitation.
Upon the finger of one of the blood drenched, loose fitting hands, was a golden wedding band, which the
party never took for themselves, and decided to leave alone.
Moving a short distance from the altar, the party noticed a ramshackle hut, normally used to store sewer
pipe repair equipment or other maintenance equipment, but the door was firmly sealed shut.
As they approached the small hut like structure, a feeling of foreboding washed over the party, as Bosa
and Rhyker stepped forward to investigate further. Bosa slammed hard on the door, and caused it to
bend inward, but to his surprise, the door flung open backwards toward him, sending him forcefully back
from it, and as they watched the dark entrance way to the hut, they saw piece by piece a much larger
bandaged body, with a skull for a head, appear from the darkness, claw like hands, long thin arms, dark
as if blood stained or burnished skin, with glowing eyes… it crawled out from the hut, and stood a good
height above them all, as it glared down at both of them, it raised its claw like appendages, and took a
swing at them both.
Combat ensued, skeletons were called for by this creature, it was no doubt Radament… the party knew it
was not going to be an easy battle, and prepared themselves for the worst.
The battle was fierce, and long, Radament was extremely adapted to his surroundings, and found it easy
to fight down there, whilst the party may have struggled from time to time, their aim faltering here and
there, but…. in the end…. they emerged victorious as Bosa delivered the final blow with his mighty Axe,
which severed Radaments head from his shoulders in one go.
With Radament gone, the rest of his summoned creatures also crumbled and faded away, meanwhile the
party looked around the shack, and the stench of blood and rotten meat, hit their nostils hard, almost
causing instant nausea…. Feeling their quest was accomplished, the party collected the book that
remained where Radamats body had fallen, and headed back to the surface, where they informed both
Cain and Atma of their good deeds, and what they had found down in the darkness of the sewers.
Cain explained that the book is incredibly powerful, and that he wishes the party to gather together as
soon as they can, so he can perform the ritual casting on the book, and empower them all at the same
time, however this could only be done once before the books power was totally used up.
It’s no surprise, that the party would need to rest at this point, the recent journey, coupled with their
interrupted sleep along the way, and then the tough conditions they had to face, yes, it was high time to
get some good rest.
As a thank you, Atma agreed to speak with the city traders, and as a result they agreed to reduce their
wares for the party, along with Atma’s gratitude, she too offered her rooms at a greatly lowered cost than
she would charge anyone else.
And so, it’s here where we pick up today’s session…
