~ SESSION 3 > SESSION 4 – (BRIEF RECAP) ~

Welcome back my friends:

When last we met, our adventurers were just finishing off their long rest, and preparing themselves mentally to re-enter the corrupted cathedral once more.
It’s no surprise that their brush with death recently, left them a little shaken up to say the least.
Still they found the courage to go back into the darkened depths.

Once back on floor two of the cathedral upper dungeons, the party noticed that there was indeed a large blood stain, which trailed for quite a distance over to a braced wooden door.
Opting to investigate, they caught the attention of a group of Fallen that were waiting around the corner for them.

Meanwhile, a newcomer stumbled his way onto the party, and through a strange and non-trusted stance, was allowed to join the party.

The man was dressed in the kings soldiers garb, often seen worn by a few high ranked veteran knights, and in his hands were his trusty sword and shield, that had seen many years of usage by now.

The soldier was named Arthas.

He introduced himself to the party, and explained that he was there to try to find his lost captain of the guard, who had gone missing around a year ago, and from that point they traveled together.

The party soon moved on and headed into trouble, but it was nothing compared to what they were about to run into…

The Fallen were dealt with quickly, and Dorian noticed that there were a group of Zombies waiting just down the passageway, and decided it was best to avoid them… and so, he encouraged everyone to turn away, and investigate the bloody door further.

Approaching the door, the floor was slippery from all the fresh blood seeping through the cracks in the door frame, but this didn’t put off our now emboldened party.
Listening through the wall, a loud CLANKING sound could be heard, and it was almost rhythmic in it’s timing.
With curiosity getting the better of them all, they opened the door….. to the Butchers LAIR.

Bravely – they all stood their ground, ready to face down the blood soaked Butcher.
Bravely – they all fell one by one to the might of the hulking demon brutes axe.

The ONLY survivor of this encounter, was Arthas, as he had fled the fight early after realising he was outmatched by the fiend, and had expected the others to do the same.

The world went black for them, and the party soon found themselves in a spectral form, traveling through a cosmos they had never seen, eventually coming to halt on a floating on nothingness platform, on the very edge of death’s domain.
Their mortal bodies were destroyed in combat, yet their souls were left unscathed, the shadow of death appeared to them, and they managed to each trade a trinket with him – and for his end of the deal, was that he agreed to let them be re-birthed anywhere they wanted, which in this case – was back in the town of Tristram.

With business concluded, the platform on which they stood began to crumble, as Death left the area.
One by one, they fell from the stars, and came crashing back down to Sanctuary, only to be reborn with their bodies, in the graveyard area of the cathedral of all places – Some would consider it irony, or say Death has a sense of humour, but nonetheless, this was a potent area for gathering life energy, and soon they were alive again, with only fragments of memory remaining of the events that unfolded after they had died.

Re-united with their bodies and equipment, and fully healed, the party moved to the town square, for some trade, they were in need of potions and other supplies, but the list of supplies was beginning to wear very thin.
With such little trade now, a weeks worth of materials doesn’t go as far as it needs to, and things become hard to come by.

That said, Lyra still managed to speak to Adria, who repaired her Firebolt staff for her.
Cornan and Dorian fixed their equipment at Griswolds forge, and bought whatever they could in the way of supplies, from Pepin.

We rejoin the party at the end of their short break in town – though they were not in need of any rest, they took some time to work on their skills as combatants, and Lyra concocted a couple of Healing Potions from her own supply.

It’s here where we begin our next session of … Adventure in Sanctuary.
