SESSION 1 – It Begins!

It’s close to 9am, on a dull summers morning, when the party of three reached the outskirts of Tristram.
The journey from afar was long and tiresome, but each one of them had their reasons for making the dangerous trip to this once peaceful town in the heartlands of Khanduras.

For some, this visit to Tristram wasn’t made out of curiosity, or even a mission of fame and glory…. No, for some this used to be called – Home.

As they passed by the town gate, and traveled along the pebble strewn path towards the center of town, the horrific sight of derelict and burnt out buildings, were all that greeted them – Looking around as they slowly moved on, they could see no sign of life anywhere – calling out for someone as they walked…. but no answer came back.
Many of the dead townsfolk were scattered among the remains of the broken buildings, with no weapons in sight, it was clear that they didn’t fight here… They had been mercilessly slaughtered.

In the distance towards the western side of town, a faint orange glow could be seen, likely being shone from the street lanterns that were always kept alight on the path made for tradesmen to reach the town center.

They all quickened their pace, and walked across a wooden bridge, which lead them over a river which divided both sides of the town. When reaching the other side, they passed by an open field where only a few cows were seen left alive, all the others were dead, and piled up into a corner, left rotting away as time passed by.

From where the party stood, a single shack could be seen still in fairly decent condition, just off to one side of the large field, well off the beaten path.
Made with blackened and stained wooden planks, surrounded by several tall lurching trees that hung over it, combined with the low lighting within a seemingly unnatural gloom, made this area a very shaded place to live for someone… but maybe that was their intention all along.

Pushing forwards towards the gentle yet welcoming glow of lit lanterns, following the road around yet more burnt out houses, the party soon found themselves stood in the middle of what remained intact of the town of Tristram.

As they entered the main square, they noticed Ogden, opening the door to his tavern, welcoming in Gillian, as she turned up for her daily work shift.
He then spotted the party as they stood idly, near the closed Blacksmith, and beckoned them to come over to him.

… It is at this point where we begin this grand adventure, a tale that will shape many lives with the events that are about to unfold.

Welcome to Sanctuary!
