Last Session 46>> into this session 47 ((recap))
We rejoin Ophi’s Bodyguards as they rest in town… When suddenly, a tall pillar of bright light erupts from the ground off in the distance, and shoots skyward, a loud echoing thunderclap soon follows.
A storm like situation was unfurling quickly, and acting as if it were a hurricane tearing through the land, ripping up trees at their roots, and tossing heavy stones around like they weighed nothing at all.
The pillar of blue and white energy soon collects in one location high in the clouds, and forms a large overlapping mushroom shaped canopy, which then detonates and sends the fractal energy across the sky for miles, until it all comes to a halt and vanishes as it spreads too thin.
The corruption that infected this land was spreading faster with each passing day, and a second Way Point had now been utterly destroyed.
The party awaken to the chaos of this spectacle and were not certain as to what they were watching, but collectively they decided. whatever it was they were beholding, was nothing good.
Within moments of light show passing, a new arrival was sighted entering the encampment via the eastern bridge… Bosa, the Barbarian was reaching his destination, after a good week of traveling from the ice capped north.
He meets the rest of the party members inside of the encampment, and explains that he has been sent south by the chief of the tribe to which he belongs, his appointed task is to investigate the reported disturbances coming from within Khanduras, and if and where possible, to lend a hand in quelling the evil here.
Leaving the place in the capable hands of the Rogue Guards – Ophi’s Bodyguards head through the town portal, and track down quite possibly their toughest foe they have had to face yet… the Demon Smith.
The battle kicks off, and is a tough and a fierce one, the Smith had incredible strength, and was able to dish out crushing blow after crushing blow, breaking big chunks off the parties physical armour with every hit he made, and his overall presence was enough to stop the party in their tracks when they even thought about striking him back, it truly was a mind over matter situation… However, it eventually became a fight which the party could win.
Various Skills and Spells, Crossbows and Bows, Axes and Swords, all played a part in taking down the hulking beast of a Demon… and upon dying, he released his grasp of the Horadric Malus.
Scarlett see’s this and wastes no time in recovering the hammer for Charsi, and places it into her inventory for safe keeping… but from the moment she touched the handle of this relic, she could feel the power it holds within it’s metal.
With the Smith now gone and his loot collected, the party head to the level below, where Baxter had found the tied up dog before… among other things also.
Once there, they decide that they want to risk the trapped main passage, taking the firebolts from the statues as they go… There are of course a few ways that the party can get through this area, however, they opted to make a mad dash through the entirety of this deviously designed fiery gauntlet… and yet somehow they managed to do it, and survived to share the tale of the dangerous run.
Rhyker went first and activated most of the traps, taking the damage full on, and when he searched for a lever or switch of some kind, there was none to be found.
What he did find however was a few new creatures at the end of the long passage way, just on the other side of some sort of large iron bared gate, which was already open…
These creatures were known as Dark Ones… A FALLEN variant if you will, with dark red skin, and they were a little harder to defeat than their cousins…. luckily though, the party are able to overcome them quickly, but some were in dire need of healing from all the damage they’d taken from the fire traps.
As usual, Ophi conjures her warmth globe, and it heals everyone up before losing its power and breaking apart.
That’s where last session ended, and where this one picks up from… so lets dive on in, and see what awaits the party as they continue through the monastery jail.
