Session 13 into session 14
Welcome back everyone! – Here’s what happened in our previous session.
It was early morning, and the party was sitting around one of the large tables within Atma’s tavern, enjoying their breakfast meals.
They were also in deep conversation with Cain about the mysterious and powerful Horadric Cube which they had managed to find within the Halls of the Dead.
Cain was all too happy to impart some of his knowledge with Rhyker, who seemingly had taken a keen interest in the Horadric artifact.
However, he informed him that it would be down to them to experiment and find out more hidden formulae, as Cain didn’t know all of the possible outcomes when using the cube to combine and craft with.
As well as this, a valuable piece of information was also gained from Cain, about the lost Horadric Staff, and it’s last known whereabouts, this was to be the next step for Ophi’s Bodyguards, in finding the true tomb of Tal’Rasha.
When all was done, and the party were ready to leave the city once more, they headed to the open portal.
Krell quickly visited Lysander, to purchase some of his wares, and then promptly joined the rest of his party.
Together, they stepped through the glowing blue portal into the Halls of the Dead.
Fearing they may have new enemies to contend with, the party all head as fast as they can to the steps leading up to the Dry Hills, finally, they are done with those dark and forsaken halls… for good.
It takes them a moment to climb the sand covered stone stairway, but soon they were outside, and stood nearby the way-point, overlooking the majority of the southernmost area of the Dry Hills.
Once outside, and away from the entrance to the halls, Ophi’s Bodyguards stood near to the edge of the cliff, looking down into the sandy wastes below them.
They managed to spot a group of the pesky Carrion Vultures, circling above a corpse, just off to one side of the road in the direction they were soon to be headed.
Krell bravely took point and led the party along the rocky road, where he was eventually attacked by the vultures circling above, as well as a hidden group of Saber Cats and Huntress Beasts.
Quickly, he realised that an ambush was upon him, and managed to enter a rage fast enough to weather the incoming attacks, but sadly not all of them were brushed aside… One of the Huntress Javelins managed to strike Krell, and cause him to bleed out.
The Vultures closed in fast, descending to attack the lesser armored members of the group of adventurers… The rest of the party moved up to face their foes head on, and battle was soon under way.
During the fight, there were a few moments that could have gone far worse for the party, but eventually, they were able to slay their surrounding foes.
Having killed off all of the vultures, the party then pressed on down the road a little further, and took out the remaining Saber Cats and Huntress Beasts, awaiting them there.
With the battle soon finished, the party made a quick search of the area, and found a few useful items, but nothing of massive value, and with the search over, they all decided it was high time to exit the area, and head directly for the Far Oasis.
About midway through their long journey, and as the party moved along a section of the road which ran nearby a very tall cliff-side, they noticed a caravan coming towards them off in the distance.
Not jumping to any conclusions that it would be hostile, they simply waited for the caravan to approach them, and sure enough, and to their surprise… Elzix, the shady merchant from Lut Gholein, was riding the caravan.
As soon as he saw the party, he pulled to one side of the road, and warmly as he could, greeted them.
During the meet up with Elzix, Zrin decided to test his luck, and gambled on a new pair of boots for himself, which would definitely help him in some way or another, if not now, maybe later on.
Before long, the party were saying their goodbyes to Elzix, and as he rode off down the road towards the Dry Hills he smiled to himself, knowing that his route to Lut Gholein assuredly was much safer now, thanks to the killing work of these adventurers.
Gathering their thoughts, Ophi’s Bodyguards moved further down the road, where the ground began to descend and change from being a cliff-side road to a lower and flatter one, which led to a very sand covered area.
This new area was indeed the Far Oasis.
However, upon entering the area, the party noticed the ground around them was starting to become shaken, and they watched as one by one, large blue shiny carapace beetles emerged from the sand around them.
The party of course, prepared themselves for the new welcoming committee.
… and It’s here where we pick up today’s session, as the party is on the brink of a potentially serious combat situation.
