Session 12 into session 13
Welcome back everyone! – Here’s what happened in our previous session.
Last session began with the party standing inside the cube chamber within the Halls of the Dead, having just defeated the tomb guardian – Bloodwitch.
Opting to rest for a moment to gather their thoughts, the party were in need of healing, and so Zrin decided to cast several spells back to back, which caused a wild magic surge, and their effects were released upon the party.
To Zrin’s surprise, small piles of gold coins fell from seemingly nowhere, and crashed onto the floor around him, and a burst of radiant energy exploded outward from him, covering the entire party in a healing light, which helped to partially heal their wounds.
Quickly, Rhyker took the Horadric Cube from inside the once guarded chest, and scooped up the gold coins around Zrin.
Soon the party was done, and on their way back up the stairs leading out to the Dry Hills entrance-way.
Once they were all back outside, and having descended the cliff face steps, Krell very carefully and sneakily headed around the base of the cliff, around the corner slightly to find and investigate the body of a slain mercenary which caught his eye from up top.
To his dismay, there’s nothing on the body anymore, cultist thieves likely stole all the loot after the kill.
However, whilst doing his investigating, Krell also noticed the lid of a chest, just peeking out from a small gap inside the cliff wall, on the opposite side of the pathway.
There were also enemies here, Carrion Vultures, circling above what seemed to be the picked clean carcass of a beast of some sort, only bones remained of it.
Zrin at that moment had an idea, and decided to move up to Krell and use Shatter on the large bone pile… He destroyed it in one blast, sending bone splinters in all directions, but also gaining the attention of the Vultures above.
The agitated birds began to descend upon the party as they moved into position, battle was soon under-way.
Ophi immediately took the initiative and threw out her destructive magic at the creatures, but to no effect.
The vultures closed in and one of them let out a a very high pitched screech, as they all began to attack.
Ophi’s Bodyguards did not falter, and stood their ground as the Vultures came in closer… They managed to fend them off and wipe them out fairly easily.
With the battle concluded, the party now turned their attention to the visible chest, noticed earlier by Krell.
Once they opened it, they found a very ornate looking ring, which they took for themselves.
After claiming the chest contents, the party moved to the way-point and teleported back to the city, and gave their new items to Deckard Cain, before finding a place to rest for the night, within Atma’s tavern.
As one by one each of them had enough sleep, they awoke and set about performing small tasks which could help them develop, and once this was completed, they all met back in the tavern and awaited Deckard Cain there.
Whilst they waited, the party engaged in conversation, and enjoyed a nicely cooked breakfast meal together, swigging down a few hot beverages supplied by Atma.
Eventually time moved on enough, and Deckard Cain was now awake too, along with the other merchants found within the city… He emerged from Drognan’s abode, where he had been put up during his stay within Lut Gholein.
Cain found the party, wished them a good morning, and offered up a few items he had for them, which he had already identified the previous day… to which the party graciously appreciated and accepted.
From this point on, there was very little for the party to do as a whole, and so Ophi’s Bodyguards took the time they had remaining to visit the stores, and restocked their potions and gear, to prepare themselves to leave the city once more.
… It’s here where we pick up today’s session.
