~ SESSION 18 > SESSION 19 – (BRIEF RECAP) ~

Welcome back my friends!

========================================================

We started last session with the party all stood face to face with the Spectre of Arkaine.
Though, they were a little unsure as to what to do at first, eventually curiosity got the better of them, and they attacked the ghost-like figure, that was stood guarding the burial site of a once great and revered hero of Sanctuary.

The spectral creature sensing hostilty from the party, moved forward with great unatural speed, it’s sword drawn and shield raised.

Battle was underway in mere moments, the spectral knight started by setting the entry passage ablaze with scorching hot walls of flame, that seemed to burst forth from the ground.
As a result, the party were somewhat cut-off from each other, Levi, Fulgrim, and Lyra were on one side of the dividing flames, while Norrec took on the spectre alone on the other.

As the fight progressed into it’s early stages, Arthas was passing by and heard an almighty commotion.
He came running as fast as he could to investigate, and ran into the party yet again….This would be thier third meeting now.

Arthas arrived just as Fulgrim somehow called into existence a large white majestic Unicorn from the realm of the Fey – it’s name unknown.
The Unicorn temporarily bonded with Fulgrim, and offered him aid for the duration of being able to remain on Sanctuary.

During the battle, Levi missed the spectre with an attempted spell cast.
That failing had a serious after effect though, as Levi felt all his magical power vanish in an instant.
It left him somewhat shocked and disheartend though, as he had no idea if this was to be a permanent change, or not.
For the time being, Levi was powerless, unable to use any magic at all.

With the aid of Arthas, and a new temporary powerful ally, the party were able to overcome the spectre guarding Arkaines tomb.

Norrec dashed through roaring flames as a last ditch effort to secure victory for all, as the creature looked to be weakened.
He reached forwards with an open palm… and shouted as loud he could — “Go back to the shadows!”
Suddenly powerful cracking lightning energy erupted from his palm, and sunk into the spectral knight before him.
Within seconds… the visage of Arkaine turned to nothing, and faded away.

With the guardian of the tomb now vanquished, the conjured firewalls also suddenly disappeared… The room fell to silence once more, save for heavy breathing that could be heard as the party all took a moment to recover from the ordeal.

A short rest was had by the party, as they spent some time within the chamber.
Norrec opened the large ornate metal chest there, that was once protected by magical repelling wards, which were now deactivated.

He finally got to peer inside…. after several attempts.

Inside the chest were a few items of use, but the main treasure found was the legendary Arkaine’s Valor.
This was a marvelous and intricately designed suit of chain mail, worn by Arkaine himself, back when he turned the tide of battle against the Demon Horde so many years ago… Proving to the world that mere Humans – could rise up and defy the armies of Hell itself.

Norrec took the armour for himself, and shared the other items amongst the party, but he could not attune to the armour properly, something blocked him from doing so.
He lacks the piety requied to wear such a relic, and so he could not activate the dormant magical powers within the holy armour.
So for now, to him at least, it is little more than a pretty looking chainmail shirt.

After their rest was complete, the party moved away from the burial chamber, Levi was tempted to break open the sealed coffin which housed the bones of the hero, but decided it was best not to defile a legends tomb.

As the party left the room, Arthas explained to them that he had an ongoing deal with the Blacksmith up top, and that Griswold would outfit him in nice new shiny armour, and a shield to go with it, if Arthas would find him the Heavenstone.
Only through this would Griswold drop the debt, and return the money he took from Arthas.
The party agreed to help him look for this stone, and so Arthas joined them as they moved deeper through the catacombs.

The Present Scene:

Leaving the room where they solved the blood fountain puzzle, the party have ventured further towards the last section of the map, where they hope to find the stairs to the next floor.

However, taking the lead, Norrec stops suddenly in the middle of the path, and swears that he can smell the distinct aroma of rotten meat, coming from just around the corner, further down the passagway.

What could be causing it?
– Norrec suspects it is undead lurking in the darkened passage, and prepares his comrades to fight!

So join me my friends, as we see what unfolds next, in this session of…. Adventure in Sanctuary!
