TAVERN CHRONICLES
Entry I – The Beginning
For those still wondering what lies beneath the Cathedral, we went to find out.
After speaking with Ogden and getting little of value from Farnham beyond another warning not to go near the place, Cornan, Dorian and I made our way there ourselves.
The strange red light spilling from the Cathedral is coming from a crystal lodged high in the bell tower. We couldn’t reach it, and none of us knew what it was meant to do, but it doesn’t look natural.
Outside the Cathedral we found a man who’d managed to crawl his way out. Barely. Dorian got to him before he died. His final warning concerned a demon called The Butcher. According to him, the creature has been slaughtering anyone foolish or unfortunate enough to venture below.
Inside, we found an unfamiliar symbol carved near the altar. Whether it’s connected to the crystal, the demons, or something worse, I can’t yet say.
We descended regardless.
The levels below are infested. So far we’ve dealt with packs of small red demons and more walking corpses than I’d care to count. Neither particularly pleasant, though both burn well enough.
After clearing the surrounding chambers, we’ve reached what appears to be an old library. We’re resting briefly before continuing the search.
If anyone reading this has information about a red crystal, strange markings beneath the Cathedral, or a demon called The Butcher, feel free to leave a note.
It might save us some time.

Entry 2 – Moving On
We found more undead, more dead monks, and a painting of a knight with a demon looming over his shoulder. I’m sure it means something dreadful.
We also discovered that if left unsupervised for more than a few moments, both Cornan and Dorian will throw themselves at armed skeletons with remarkable enthusiasm and very little thought.
Cornan fell first. Dorian apparently felt left out and soon joined him.
This left me with a room full of skeletons and the unpleasant realisation that I was the only person present not fuelled by excessive confidence and testosterone.
The skeletons were dealt with. The men were eventually returned to their feet. Sadly.
We withdrew to town before either of them found another creative way to get themselves killed.
Pepin has since informed us that the well water is corrupted and wants us to investigate the source beneath the Cathedral.
Because clearly the demons weren’t enough.
